Preparing Your Child for Preschool: ABC Primary Pad

Another great way that you can help to prepare your child for preschool or even kindergarten is with an ABC Primary Pad. What I am talking about is pictured above. The pad that we have is called an ABC Primary Pad, but I have also heard them called different things, but I can’t think of the names right now.

Right now, my daughter is using these pads to learn how to read and write, but we have actually been using them for a while now. What I like about the ABC Primary pads is that they have those lines that are good for learning how to write. My daughter actually use to just draw along the lines with different colored crayons at first. I actually think that helped to improve her writing and her coloring accuracy.

Also in the picture, you can see some homemade worksheets that I created for my daughter. Since she is still young, I decided to write her out all of the letters so that she can trace them herself. If you have an older child or one who is good at writing, you may want to let them make their own letters instead of just tracing them.

To spice up the activity, we use different colors for each letter. I also give my daughter a sticker after she does a row of letters.

Great idea. My daughter is almost 2 and LOVES letters and numbers. Strangely enough she knows all of her letters but not her numbers. She is unable to write them yet, but I will gladly take your advice when she begins to show some interest.
