Easy Craft Project - Make a Tree Picture with Coffee Filters

Are you looking for an easy craft project to do with your kids?  Here is a project my daughter and I did.  We made a picture of a tree using coffee filters.  This craft project is easy, simple, cheap, and fun.

Supplies You Will Need:

  • 3 Coffee Filters
  • 2 Sheets of Construction Paper (1 Brown)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Crayons

Directions:

Step #1:  We made a small picture on standard size construction paper.  You can make a lager one as well.  For the smaller size, we cut the bottoms of the coffee filters out.  So we were left with the round bottom.

Step #2:  Color the coffee filters.  You can use green or a collection of green, red, brown, and orange for fall colors.

Step #3:  Cut out a tree trunk on brown construction paper.  If your child is good with scissors, just trace the outline for them and let them do the cutting.

Step #4:  Glue the tree truck to the full sheet of construction paper (the background).

Step #5:  Glue each of the colored coffee filters to the page (on top of the tree truck).

Above was a picture of our final product.  Below is a picture of a larger tree we also made the same way.  We just used full coffee filters and a large sheet of construction paper.

Doing craft projects with your child is a fun activity that is great for whenever, especially a rainy day.  What is nice about this preschool craft project or kindergarten craft project is that most parents already have all the needed supplies at home!

Fall Is Here!

With the fall season up and running, it is starting to get a bit cold! On that same note, it is one of the best times to talk a walk. Walking is a great activity for children of all ages.

Right now, when we go for a walk we are examining the changing seasons. Basically, we are collecting leaves! Another fun activity is to go out with our digital camera. My daughter and I take turns snapping pictures. When we are done, we return home and print some of those pictures to make a collage.

Do you and your family have a favorite fall activity?

Preschool Craft Project: Paper Plate Snowman

Supplies Needed:

2 Paper Plates (1 Small, 1 Large)
Glue
Tape
Scissors
Construction Paper
Small Craft Popsicle Sticks or Craft Pipe Cleaners

Note: If you do not have the small sized paper plate, just take a large paper plate and cut it to a smaller size.

Directions:

1 – Help your child glue the two paper plates together. The smaller plate goes on top (this is the snowman’s head). Add tape for extra reinforcement.

2 – Draw the outline of a hat on colored construction paper and cut.

3 – Have your child glue the hat to the small plate (the snowman’s head).

4 – Have your child draw a face on their snowman. Craft eyes, if you have them, work great.

5 – Cut out four small circles from construction paper. Have your child glue them to the snowman’s body for the buttons. They can also just draw them on too.

6 – Use either craft pipe cleaners or popsicle craft sticks to create the snowman’s arms. Have your child flip the project over and tape them to the back. Tape is easier than glue for this step because it holds better and quicker.

Painting Leaves: A Great Preschool Activity

If you are still able to collect a few leaves with your child, there are a number of preschool craft projects you can do with them. One is painting leaves.

What we did was take a sheet of paper and glue leaves to it. Then, my daughter painted the leaves.

Doing Craft Projects with Leaves

Pretty soon, the leaves will start falling. In fact, they have already started to do so here. What does that mean? The perfect opportunities for preschool craft projects with leaves. So, take your child for a walk, gather some leaves, come home and let the creativity flow!

Preparing Your Child for Preschool: Preschool Thanksgiving Craft Project

This is a fun preschool craft project that we just did the other day. It was so much fun. Lol, you can tell from the pictures that we are far from artists, but it was still a fun preschool craft project. Be sure to check below for more pictures.

What You Will Need:

Construction Paper
Paper Bags (Optional – Can Also Use Paper)
Scissors
Markers
Glue Stick

What You Will Want to Do

1 – Cut Your Paper Bag

If you are using the lunch sized paper bags or even the full sized paper bags, you will want to cut a square out, which will be large enough for your hand print.

You can skip this step if you are using traditional paper.

2 – Trace Your Child’s Handprint

3 – Cut Out the Handprint

This step is optional, but since my daughter is 3, I decided to precut her handprint. I was worried that when she colored the lines would be mixed up and I wouldn’t accurately be able to cut out her print.

4 – Color The Turkey Print

We used markers, but crayons can also be used. We also put a scrap piece of paper under the handprint cut out. This is a good idea if your toddler or preschooler is likely to color outside of the lines, as you don’t want to have crayon or marker on your table.

5 – Glue the Colored Turkey Print on a Piece of Construction Paper

6 – Sign It and Possibly Frame It

Preparing Your Child for Preschool: Preschool Craft Project

Another one of the many preschool craft projects that we did with leaves we collected involved painting.

Painting with leaves is a unique, but fun preschool craft project that your child will likely love. Your child may be frustrated a little bit first, as the painting is a little bit harder to control, but it is still fun!

A FEW TIPS
(1) Smaller leaves are a little bit easier to use and less messy.

(2) Putting a few drops of paint on a paper plate is a good way to reduce messes and save paint.

(3) Paper towels or newspapers should be placed on the table, under the craft project, to make cleanup much easier.

Preparing for Preschool: Preschool Craft Project

Preparing Your Child for Preschool: Preschool Craft Project

Here is one of the many (lol, and I mean many) leaf projects that we completed yesterday.

What we did was take a simple sheet of drawing paper and glued a leaf to the page. We used a glue stick and then we placed a few drops of extra glue on the leaf, just in case. You may want to use the glue stick yourself, as some leaves can easily break apart.

Next, we turned our leaves into “Leap People.” All we did was draw arms, legs, and faces on them with markers. We also added a scenery in the background.

This simple preschool craft project was one that my daughter loves. She keeps on saying “That leaf is from my leaf collection.” It is too cute!
